His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR the Executive Governor of Kano State today visited the Watari Water Treatment Plant at Bagwai Local Government area of the state.
The governor toured the plant and inspected its facilities which has the capacity of treating 75 million litres of water per day but currently treating only 50 million due to lack of power as well as lack of some other machineries and is currently supplying 5 local governments in the State which is also the most recent treatment plant in the State.
The governor directed the ministry of works to fence the treatment plant, and also directed that proposal for the channeling of pipe to the main town of Bichi in order to join it to the plant to end decades of lack of access to clean water. He further said that his administration will connect the plant to the closest power grid to ensure steady power supply, as it is currently getting it’s power from Kankia in Katsina state.
