2017 Jambite? Change Of Course & Institution Has Started

We have just received information that the 2017 JAMB Change of Course/Institution Process has begun.

According to the reports we received, this process can only be done at the accredited CBT Centres.

Before you head out to check if this process has started at an accredited CBT Centre around you, please ensure the following;

- That you know exactly the Changes of Course/Institution you would like to make changes to.

- Please ensure you do your research to ensure that the school you are changing to does not usually cut-off higher than your score.

- That you can change one or all your courses/institutions at the same time.

- That once the form is submitted, you can no longer make any changes again (or else the system has changed)

- That you select a Course/Institution that aligns with your subject combination. If you don't do this, your school will screen you out. Please use the Online JAMB Brochure to verify.

- There may be a limited number of schools or courses you can change to, so be sure to have 3 or 4 options, just in case the one you want to change to is not available.

- You could be charged about N2,500 to effect this change.

- Please use the Online JAMB Brochure to ensure the course you are choosing is done in your choice institution.

Possible 2017 Cut Off Marks for Nigeria Institutions, Jambites Get In Here

Most candidates having received their 2017 JAMB results must be wondering their chances of securing admission this year.

At this stage, one of the important things you need to know is the possible cut-off mark of you school of choice for 2017/2018 admission.

The cut-off marks denotes the minimum JAMB score you are required to have to be able to participate in the admission screening exercise for your school of choice.

This will enable you to know if you qualify for your school admission screening and equally help you determine if you need to go for JAMB change of course and or institution.

At the moment, JAMB and institutions have not announced their official cut-off marks. So what we have here is based on what it was last year and in previous years for these institutions.

Please note that these cut-offs are subject to change by the individual institutions, depending on the performance of students that selected them.

Too Bad!! Ondo State University Expels Four Students, Suspends 16 (See Full List And Reasons)

The Ondo State University of Science and Technology, (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa has announced the expulsion of four students of the university over gross misconduct.

The university also suspended 16 other students for various cases of examination malpractices for one to two academic semesters.

The Acting Registrar of the institution, Mr Felix Akinusi, who confirmed this in Okitipupa, said that the students had been advised to stay away from the university premises.

He also issued a strong warning to other students to desist from misconducts and malpractice, urging them to pursue their educational career with seriousness.

“The university have expelled four students over gross misconduct, they were involved in physical assault of their colleagues on campus.

“The other 16 that were suspended were involved in various examination malpractice for two semesters.

“Students should desist from misconducts or malpractice which can put them on the sideline. They should concentrate and pursue their academic career to a logical end with seriousness,” Akinusi said.

The students expelled and their departments are; Akande Samuel (Microbiology), Oluwatayo Adewale (Geophysics), Okunomo Henry (Biochemistry), and Akinteye Babatunde (Biochemistry).

The suspended students are; Akinkuowo Fisayo (Zoology), Oladimeji Oluwatobi ( Microbiology), Oladokun Emmanuel (Geophysics), Akinde Abiodun (Industrial Chemistry), Elisha Felicia (Biochemistry), Ohafugor Joseph (Geophysics).

Others include: Kayode Samuel (Physics), Agbaje Taofeek (Mathematics), Oni Olubunmi (Fisheries), Olanipekun Oluwasanmi (Physics), Ayadi Segun (Fisheries), Adebisi Oladotun (Botany).

The rest are Edward Monday (Mathematics), Udoh Emmanuel (Industrial Chemistry), Burojo Ojo (Mathematics) and Sanusi Idris (Fisheries).

.Some Nigerian universities have deviated from their core courses. The Federal Government has directed some of universities to stop running programmes that are outside their mandates. 

Gaining admission is the core desire of some Nigerian youths; they are blinded by the persistent need to join their peers in the university. They do not pay attention to the courses being run by the schools in as much as they get admitted.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has looked into the academic sector by forbidding some varsities to stop offering major courses they are not at liberty to run while they warned some of them to stop changing the nomenclature of some courses.

In truth, some courses have been twisted to suit the need of the school and the administrators. Courses like banking engineering have been introduced into the portal of some Nigerian universities.

Schools now offer courses that are not within their mandates. Most of the varsities affected are specialised schools that offer law and accounting. These are major courses that should not be listed in the portal of schools that seek to fulfill the need of manpower in certain sectors of the economy.

It is expected that these schools will remove law and accounting from their portals. Universities of medicine was also listed as part of those schools meddling their curriculum with courses they are not at liberty to offer.

These universities derailed from their statutory responsibility by running programmes that contradicts their mandates. Universities of Agriculture now offer courses like business administration, accounting, banking and finance, management courses and so on.

Some Nigerian universities offer banking engineering and accounting technology. It is hoped that the concerned schools will take immediate steps to stop such programmes. Candidates should also avoid choosing courses like that as they are illegal and not provided in the JAMB brochure.
