Fani-Kayode, Murray-Bruce Congratulate Atiku For Dumping APC

Former Minister of Aviation, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, has appealed to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This comes hours after the former vice president resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.
Fani-Kayode, as well as the senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Ben Murray-Bruce, urged Atiku to come back to the PDP to help build the party.

How Drowning Chinese-owned Oil Firm Paid Millions Of Dollars As Bribe To Nigerian Officials Through Emeka Offor

As the Chinese-owned Addax Petroleum winds up its operations on December 10, a confidential document has emerged showing how the company paid millions of dollars in bribes to Nigerian officials to secure juicy contracts in the oil industry, Premium Times can report.

According to the report, there were payments for “questionable transactions” to Nigerian lawyers and a company owned by politician Emeka Offor, with a huge chunk of the money believed to be used to bribe government officials, Premium Times can report.

The document, a report by leading audit firm Deloitte obtained this week by Swiss newspaper, Le Temps, said payments in excess of $20 million were made to four Nigerian “legal advisors” (one of them based in the U.S.), while more than $80 million was paid to Mr. Offor’s Kaztec Engineering Limited for questionable projects.

Emmerson Mnangagwa has been sworn in as Zimbabwe’s president in a ceremony at a packed stadium in the country’s capital, Harare, BBC reports.
It follows the dramatic departure of Robert Mugabe after 37 years of authoritarian rule.
The former vice-president’s dismissal earlier this month led the ruling Zanu-PF party and the army to intervene and force Mr Mugabe to quit.
Mr Mnangagwa, who had fled the country, returned from exile on Wednesday.

UNIBEN Students Protest Increase In Fees As Senate Shuts Down School (Photos)

The Student Union Government at the University of Benin, Benin City, has issued a notice calling all students at the university for a peaceful demonstration against the hike in fees and charges by Council.
The demonstration is to set off from June 12 Building on Thursday morning, at 7.00am. The union is asking for a total reversal of increment in fees and charges including those affecting the just-admitted fresh students.
ANSA, Alliance of Nigerian Students Against Neo-Liberal Attacks, has been calling for a protest by students against the hike.

 A dedicated nurse left her own wedding reception to tend to a patient - while still wearing her bridal gown .

Yazmin Dominguez had just said her vows when she was alerted to an urgent medical problem with one of her patients.

She made her excuses to her new husband and guests and rushed to the patient's bedside.

The man's name and condition were not reported, and it was not clear why he suddenly needed Mrs Dominguez rather than any other nurse.

2019: Igbo Group Plans One-million-man March for Buhari, Vows to Stop Gov. Ikpeazu's Re-election

In a statement signed by the WIYC National Publicitity Officer, Mazi Alex Okemiri, and released on Thursday, the World Igbo Youth Congress, WIYC, said they would embark on one-million-man march to Aso Rock this month to show support for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
According to Vanguard, the group vowed to stop the re-election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State in 2019, saying that he has continued to suffer workers and pensioners of the State by owing them months of arrears of their entitlements.

Atiku: Mom Taraba, others may dump APC, Buhari's govt soon

Following the resignation of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, from the All Progressives Congress, APC, there indications that Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, may do same in the coming weeks. An aide to a top member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) told Daily Post on Friday that the former ruling party is excited by Atiku’s decision.
  
He noted that though the ex-VP did not state which party he intends to join, the party would welcome him with open arms. The source said, “With Atiku’s announcement that he is now out of ‘their change’, the calculation towards 2019 just assumed a new level.

What Nigerian Government must do to remove Allison-Madueke – UK answers Charly Boy, others

The British Government has pointed out that for the embattled former Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Allison-Madueke, to be extradited to face corruption charges in Nigeria, the Federal Government most request for it.

The former Petroleum Minister is currently in London, awaiting formal corruption charges and possibly, trial, in the United Kingdom. The Nigerian Government had last month said it had no plans to seek Alison-Madueke’s repatriation since she was already being investigated in the United Kingdom.

Tinubu Drops Sensation, Says No Programmed Ticket For Buhari In 2019

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday said there will be no automatic ticket for President Muhammadu Buhari to vie for the presidency under the banner of the APC in 2019.
The former governor of Lagos spoke in Akure, Ondo State when he visited the leader of the Pan Yoruba socio- cultural group, Afenifere, Pa. Reuben Fasonranti.
Tinubu stated emphatically that anyone who must represent the party must be selected through a transparent primary election.

'I Assume Liability For PDP's Disappointment In 2015'- Ex President Goodluck Jonathan Says

The immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan has said he should be blamed for the Peoples Democratic Party’s loss in 2015.
Jonathan said it was better to take responsibility for the party’s defeat to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the last presidential election.
The former President said it has become his priority “to ensure that the Peoples Democratic Party regains the Presidency in 2019.”
He said this when one of the aspirants for the national chairmanship position of the PDP, Chief Olabode George, paid him a courtesy visit in his countryhome in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
