All Airlines To Be Fully Automated By Dec. – NCAA

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has called on domestic airlines yet to fully automate their remittance of the five per cent Ticket and Cargo Sales Charges (TSC/CSC) by December.

Mr Sam Adurogboye, General Manager, Public Relations, NCAA, made the call in an interview in Lagos on Thursday.

He said that the authority only suspended its January 31 ultimatum issued to the airlines on the implementation of the remittance.

The five per cent TSC/CSC is the revenue accruable to the aviation agencies through NCAA as contained in Part V Section 12(1) of the Civil Aviation Act 2006.

The governor didn’t mention the people that perpetrated such act, but said it was obviously by his ‘enemies’.

3 Nigerians Among Nominees For CAF African Players Awards

Three Nigerian players are now in line for consideration for continental football awards in January after being listed among nominees by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The three players include overseas-based Victor Moses and William Troost-Ekong who have been nominated for the African Player of the Year award.

Egypt-based Junior Ajayi who plays for Egyptian side Al Ahly has also been nominated for the African Player of the Year Based in Africa 2017 award.

HIV: 80% Transmission In Nigeria Through Sex – UNICEF

Communication Specialist with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Kaduna Field Office, Rabiu Musa has disclosed that about 80% of the HIV transmission in Nigeria happened through sex.

This is just as added that about 10% of infections is through blood transfusion, while the other 10% is through other routes such as Mother to Child Transmission (MTCT), Injection Drug User (IDU), use of unsterilized instruments among others.

Rabiu made the disclosure in Kachia, during a two day orientation for Religious Leaders in Kaduna State for Demand Creation and Increase Male Involvement in Anti Natal and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT), of HIV meeting, adding that In 2014, Nigeria has the second highest burden of HIV in the world with an estimated 3.4 million People Living with HIV (PLHIV).

Photo: Police rescue fraudsters from irate mob in Enugu after they posed as Keke driver, passengers and swindled, gang raped a woman

The Enugu State Police Command on Wednesday, say they rescued two suspected fraudsters and rapists from irate mob and lynching in the state.

The spokesperson for the Command, Asp. Ebere Amaraizu, said the suspects MondayOkoro and Chidiebere Oke were rescued by operatives of Trans Ekulu Division of Division of the Command on October 26, after defrauding and gangraping a female passenger. The third suspect is on the run after managing to escape from the scene.

For millions of Nigerians looking for jobs there is a ray of hope as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is set to create one million jobs for them.

To this end the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ondo State Government to establish a 65,000 million litres bio-fuel plant in Okeluse, Ondo State.

Group Managing Director (GMD) of the NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru, revealed this when he received the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, on a courtesy visit.

Varsity Don Raises The Alarm Over Terrorists Access To Mining Explosives

A Professor of Mining Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has raised alarm over the rate explosives meant for mining, blasting of rocks, demolition of unused buildings and military use find  their way to the hands of terrorists who use it to bomb churches, mosques, residential buildings and airplanes to mention a few.

Professor Zacchaeus Opafunso, the first Nigerian Professor of Mining Engineering stated this while delivering the 89th inaugural lecture of the University. Speaking on the topic, “Explosives:  For War or Peace”, Opafunso said that the policing structure of Nigerian land and sea borders should be reevaluated and strengthened for better performance in order to check the rate of smuggled explosives into the country.
